The economic development program for the State of Mississippi is designed to meet the most pressing needs of people and communities that were most impacted by the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina. Impact is not limited to physical destruction but also includes an immediate need for jobs as a result of the permanent relocation of displaced people. The purpose of this program category is to assist local governments affected by Hurricane Katrina to provide infrastructure to support economic development. The funds will be given in the form of grants and loans that will be used for economic development purposes.
